OVERVIEW

Lifesum's mission is to make people healthier and happier. With over 38 million users, Lifesum is one of the biggest health tech startups in the world. The app helps users keep tabs on the number of calories they are consuming and encourages them to keep active, as well as displaying healthy recipes and meal plans. Parallel to the product, Lifesum also has big collaborations with Nike, Google, and Samsung in order to extend its service offering.
During my time at Lifesum, I mostly focused on UX research and creating a new brand platform in order to prioritize user insights and find the biggest business opportunities.

SOLUTION

I created a brand platform including brand values, a vision, and a mission statement. Based on our brand strategy I created design guidelines that build the foundation for a visionary prototype. My goal was to handover action items that can be used by the management, the Product Owners as well as the designers.

COLLABORATION

Alongside our product owners, nutritionists, data analysts, and UX researcher, I worked closely with the management to understand the company's core principles. Our UX researcher spent a month in Los Angeles, which not only meant daily remote check-ins but also having our target group as close as possible.

KEY LEARNINGS

I worked with all disciplines of the product, and I learned what it means to grow with a startup quickly. Understanding the users, what is important to them and creating an impact of the business through my work. I learned this through designing, testing and failing, iterating, tracking and talking to users and employees.
